How our in-house lab guarantees quality

Tape may look like a simple product, but the technology behind it is complex. Whether it's painter's tape that comes off after a weekend without leaving adhesive residue, or masking tape that withstands a 200-degree powder coating process, there's serious science behind every roll. At All Tape Supplies (ATS), our in-house lab sits at the heart of that science. Not as a final check, but as the common thread running through the entire process of selection, development and production.

Why aluminium tape is essential for the energy efficiency of buildings

In the modern construction sector, everything comes down to one core concept: airtightness. As energy standards for buildings become ever stricter, attention is growing for the details that make the difference between an energy-efficient building and one with needless heat loss. One of those crucial details is the sealing of HVAC systems (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning). At All Tape Supplies, we see that choosing the right HVAC aluminium tape is the decisive factor here.

Air leaks are the invisible enemy of optimal performance

No matter how advanced an HVAC system is, if the connections between the ducts aren’t one hundred percent airtight, that efficiency is lost. Air leaks allow heated or cooled air to escape before it reaches its destination. This forces the system to work harder, leading to a higher energy bill and a shorter lifespan for the installation.
Here is where specialised HVAC tape comes in. Unlike standard tapes, high-quality aluminium tape is specifically designed to safeguard the integrity of insulation materials and metal air ducts under changing conditions.

Why aluminium tape is the industry standard

Within installation engineering, aluminium tape has become indispensable. But what makes this product so superior for HVAC applications?

  1. Vapour and moisture resistance: Aluminium tape acts as an excellent barrier against moisture and vapour. This prevents condensation in the insulation layers, which is crucial for combating corrosion and mould formation in the ducts.
  2. Temperature resistance: HVAC systems deal with extreme temperature fluctuations. Our aluminium tapes retain their adhesive strength at both very low and very high temperatures, keeping the seal intact for years.
  3. Reflective capacity: The tape’s glossy top layer reflects heat and light. This contributes to the thermal insulation of the duct, keeping the temperature of the transported air stable.
  4. Durability and fire safety: Aluminium is naturally flame-retardant. For projects subject to strict fire safety standards, the use of certified aluminium tape is often a requirement.

Our aluminium tapes

Quality lies in the right combination of backing and adhesive strength

Not every aluminium tape is the same. At All Tape Supplies, we distinguish between different thicknesses (for example 60 or 70 micron) and adhesive types. For HVAC applications, an acrylic solvent adhesive layer is usually the preferred choice. This type of adhesive offers superior bonding to metal and performs excellently over the long term, even when exposed to UV or chemical influences.
Expert tip from ATS: When applying aluminium tape, always make sure the surface is free of grease and dust. Use a squeegee (spatula) to press the tape down firmly; this activates the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and creates a seamless bond.

Building a future-proof and airtight standard together

Energy efficiency lies in the details. By investing in the right aluminium tape, installers guarantee an airtight system that’s ready for the future. Whether it concerns new construction or the renovation of commercial buildings, the right sealing is the foundation of every sustainable climate control system.
