How our in-house lab guarantees quality

Tape may look like a simple product, but the technology behind it is complex. Whether it's painter's tape that comes off after a weekend without leaving adhesive residue, or masking tape that withstands a 200-degree powder coating process, there's serious science behind every roll. At All Tape Supplies (ATS), our in-house lab sits at the heart of that science. Not as a final check, but as the common thread running through the entire process of selection, development and production.

Which packaging tape suits your packaging process?

Sealing a box seems like the simplest step in the packaging process. Yet it is precisely this final action that determines whether a package survives transport, handling and storage without problems. A tape that comes loose means damage, returns and dissatisfied customers. In this blog, we explain how to choose the right packaging tape based on load class and application method.

Four classes, four tapes

Our range of packaging tapes is built around four classes, so you never go too light or unnecessarily heavy.

Lightweight: SCP101HM
For sealing light boxes, the SCP101HM is an economical and reliable choice. The tape has a crêpe paper backing with a hotmelt adhesive, a thickness of 110 microns and an adhesion of 7 N/cm. Ideal for everyday use and light shipping work.

Standard: SCP102RS
For general packaging work, choose the SCP102RS. This tape also has a crêpe paper backing, but with a rubber adhesive and a thickness of 120 microns. Good adhesion and reliable performance for sealing standard boxes.

Medium Duty: FLP104HM
For medium-weight to heavy boxes, the FLP104HM offers extra strength. The flatback paper backing with hotmelt adhesive (120 microns) delivers an adhesion of 11 N/cm, ideal for heavier loads.

Heavy Duty: FLP105HM
For the heaviest boxes, there is the FLP105HM (125 microns), with the same strong adhesion of 11 N/cm and high abrasion resistance.

Part of the difference lies in the backing. Flatback paper has an elongation of just 3 per cent, whereas crêpe paper gives more. That low elongation keeps the seal tight, even when a heavy box comes under strain during transport.

Manual or machine application

Our packaging tapes are designed for both manual and machine application, from the warehouse to the automated packaging line. For applications ranging from medium-weight to heavy cartons, we recommend using a dispenser. This ensures a consistent seal and maximum process efficiency.

Recyclable, so box and tape can be disposed of together

Demand for sustainable packaging is growing, and that calls for sustainable sealing materials. Our paper tapes are INGEDE-certified. This means box and tape can be disposed of and recycled together, without any extra effort in waste separation. Thanks to the biobased materials, the tapes fit seamlessly into the recycling process.

Tested in our own laboratory

Every packaging tape in our range is extensively tested in our own laboratory, including for adhesion, tensile strength and bonding to cardboard. This way we know for certain that the tape performs as promised, from the first box to the last.
